Recalls this week: High chairs, strollers

If you have a young child, be sure to check out this week's list of recalls.
Among the faulty items were high chairs, strollers and toy dinosaurs. Dozens of injuries, including broken bones and bruised heads, were reported in connection with the high chairs. There were no injuries reported in relation to the strollers or toy dinosaurs.

PRODUCT: Majestic High Chairs made by Evenflo Co. Inc., of Miamisburg, Ohio. The high chairs, made in China, were sold nationwide at juvenile product and mass merchandise stores, including Toys "R" Us, Babies "R" Us, Burlington Coat Factory and Shopko. They were also sold online at Walmart.com from January 2006 through May 2007.
HOW MANY: About 95,000.
WHY: They pose a hazard for children when parts come loose and the seat backs fall off. There have been dozens of reported injuries such as broken bones and head bruises. The company received more than 1,000 reports of parts falling out.

PRODUCT: Phil & Teds Dash Buggy strollers, made in China and imported by Regal Lager Inc., of Kennesaw, Ga. The recalled stroller has a metal frame with three wheels, a cloth seat and a canopy. The product was sold at independent juvenile specialty stores and online from July through September this year.
HOW MANY: 1,600.
WHY: The frame handle could fail to latch properly and break, posing a fall hazard to small children. No injuries or incidents have been reported.

PRODUCT: Dinosaur Epoch toy dinosaurs, manufactured in China and imported by Xtreme Toy Zone of Los AngelesLos Angeles. The dinosaurs were sold on Xtreme Toy Zone's Web site between May and October 2008.
HOW MANY: About 480.
WHY: Surface paints can contain high levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested by young children. No incidents have been reported.

PRODUCT: Wonderfarm brand of biscuits by Interfood Shareholding Co. The recalled biscuits were sold in 800-gram red metal tins in four varieties. They were distributed to multiple states.
HOW MANY: Not specified.
WHY: They might be contaminated with melamine, a chemical used in plastics and not approved to be directly added to food in the U.S. No illnesses have been reported, according to the Vietnam-based company.

PRODUCT: Eight-ounce plastic bags of Freshness Choice brand steamed mackerel by New York-based Siam Trading Inc. The mackerel was sold around the country.
HOW MANY: Not specified.
WHY: There is a risk of contamination with Clostridium botulinum spores. This bacteria can produce the toxin that causes botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning. Symptoms have include blurred or double vision, weakness, poor reflexes, difficulty in swallowing and respiratory paralysis. No illnesses have been reported.
